Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, has been at the hub of many troubles especially with the US. If the trouble ends with the US, it would have been much better. However, the US is doing all it can to ensure that its ally nations do not patronize Huawei (especially its 5G). As a result, Huawei’s latest flagship does not use Googe Mobile Services. Interestingly, the company was still able to close the gap with Samsung and it’s on track to become the largest phone maker globally. According to a recent survey, over 20 countries in Europe have defiled the US request and will use Huawei’s 5G.
Specifically, 21 European nations will use Huawei’s 5G. The countries or regions that have clearly chosen Huawei 5G equipment are Britain, France, Germany, Norway, Italy, Monaco, Spain. Others include Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal, Netherlands, Finland, Greece, Cyprus, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, Sweden, Russia, and Serbia.
Recently, Spanish operator, Telefonica, has confirmed that it will use Huawei equipment in its 5G core network. Nevertheless, it will adopt a multi-vendor strategy. The operator already uses Huawei in its 2G and 4G cores.
In addition, Telefonica, one of Germany’s three major telecommunications operators, will also use Huawei and Nokia equipment to build 5G networks. Furthermore, Norwegian Telecom also said that in the construction of 5G networks, it will continue to use equipment from Huawei. However, it will add Swedish company, Ericsson, to its supply chain.
